Jeremiah 29:11: “ 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)[1]
"Hope" is this year's theme for our congregation. What is hope? Merriam-Webster defines hope as "desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment."[2]As we find ourselves nearly halfway through 2024, what are we hoping for? Good health, improved finances, a better relationship with family and friends? Perhaps you desire to be closer to God but are unsure of the path. In all these hopes, remember that God is intimately aware of where we are in every aspect of our lives. God's presence is never far from us, and hope from God never disappoints! As we journey through this year, let's make a list of things and people we are hopeful for and about. Then, make a list of those things that give you pause and anxiety. Which list is longer? If it is the latter, reflect on why that is and then ask yourself, how can I make it better? But remember, do not leave God out of the equation.
Blessings,
Pastor Pat
